About the Georgia Policy Labs

The Georgia Policy Labs use data and science to find evidence-based solutions that efficiently and effectively address the needs of children, students, and families. We work with government partners, school districts, and community organizations to identify successful programs and policies, create and test innovative policy solutions, and help scale up innovations with the greatest potential to improve lives.

Metro Atlanta Policy Lab for Education

MAPLE partners with five of the largest school districts in the Atlanta metro area, which collectively educate 30 percent of all Georgia’s public-school students.

Career & Technical Education Policy Exchange

CTEx is a multi-state policy lab dedicated to improving high school CTE programs by working with state and local partners to develop data-driven policy recommendations.

Child & Family Policy Lab

Child & Family focuses on increasing the education and economic stability of Georgia’s children and families through rigorous research and long-term partnerships with state agencies and a nonprofit organization.

Engaged Research Competition (ERC)Application Deadline: April 9, 2025, at 5:15 p.m. ET

The Georgia Policy Labs in the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies invites proposals for its fourth Engaged Research Competition, which will award up to $30,000 to support engaged research with public or nonprofit partners. The competition is open to all tenure-track assistant professors or untenured associate professors on the tenure track at Georgia State University.

Funds can be used for course releases, summer salary, and more from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026. 
These funds are intended to remove structural barriers from conducting engaged research (e.g., the longer time to publication when answering questions of practice, complications setting up data sharing agreements, and time spent building trust with a partner)

Applicants must apply through Georgia State’s Internal Grants portal. Applications must be submitted by April 9, 2025, at 5:15 p.m. ET. Applications will be reviewed by a committee, with award decisions expected by May.
